Where do you want to see greenspace in Nashville? Mark your favorite places on a Google Earth map now!

Partners in the Nashville-Davidson County Open Space Plan are currently soliciting public input on species places to you. This input will be used to inform the priorities and recommendations of the Plan. For more information on the project, please see http://nashvilleopenspace.wordpress.com/about/.
/> The following instructions will help you use Google Earth, a tool that gives a view of the earth in 3D. Following the instructions, you will be able to identify the location of places you know and to tell us why they should be included in the plan. A composite map of these places will be periodically updated and posted at

Nashville: Naturally
Creating, Enhancing and Conserving the Places that Matter

As part of the public outreach process of the Davidson County Open Space Planning Project, we are gathering input on what places in Davidson County the community would like to see protected.

We have a developed a Google earth tool that allows folks to go in a put a virtual ‘push pin’ on places you would like to see become a park (or other publically used space) or be privately protected. This can be a view you enjoy, a place you drive by on your commute, a vacant lot you would like to see turned into a garden or park, a place you hike on the weekend, a stream-bank you fish on, a stretch of greenway you wish was built. No place is to big or to small.

Feel free to go in and ‘pin’ as many times as you like over the next few months. You can add a description of why you think it should be protected or what it means to you and your community. The results will be incorporated into the plan. The goal is to get as much input as we can!

Follow these 3 steps:

1. Go to: http://nashvilleopenspace.wordpress.com/public-input-and-outreach/

2. Mark the map with a few sites that you would like to see protected:
a. Go to the tab “public input and outreach” and click the link to the instructions
b. Download Google earth if you don’t already have it
c. Use the tool! Mark up the map.

3. Send this email through your networks to anyone and everyone you think might be interested. The goal is to obtain a lot of data through everyone’s ‘pins’.
